We are delighted to introduce Jill Rutherford as the newest member of our HCCSO team. Jill is working with our partners to improve rural health equity. As our Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator, she is putting her talents to work supporting the Perinatal Task Force and helping to create strategies to engage local families and communities.

Hello!

As the new Healthy Start Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator, it is my job to work with our community of Healthy Start participants, Healthy Start staff and county organizations to fulfill our mission and improve health outcomes for parents and babies throughout Douglas and Josephine counties.

My Journey to Healthy Start

Prior to joining HCCSO in October, I focused 10 years in the non-profit sector as special event coordinator at the High Desert Museum in Bend, OR. Moving to Southern Oregon opened up a career change that inspired me to want to impact and support the community in which I reside, and also work with the perinatal (before, during and after pregnancy) demographic.

This demographic is close to my heart because I was a Healthy Start participant when I had children 10 years ago. It profoundly helped me grow and prosper as a new parent!  I am delighted and motivated to work for an organization that helps people profoundly build a resilient parenting platform.

My Goals for Healthy Start

During my first year as Community Outreach Coordinator, it is my primary goal to personally meet and listen to the voices of staff and Healthy Start participants. I am actively planning the Community Welcome Baby Shower and monthly meetings to engage this team of people on priority topics that help to create change and boost action.

I strongly believe in upholding and maintaining the success of past events that have been well-attended, and I am open to adding even more event opportunities in the future.  Going forward, I hope to continue building strong relationships throughout each county and engaging in meaningful and productive ways that encourage growth and outcomes for all.

Thank you for the warm welcome, and I truly look forward to growing with and becoming part of the Southern Oregon community!
