Whether you’re a parent, community leader, health care provider, or advocate for better health for all in southern Oregon, it’s important to lend your voice. There are lots of opportunities to get involved and help shape big-picture policy decisions in our region. Together, we can do more.

Serve on the Board
Be an active member on southern Oregon’s journey toward better health for all. Our board is composed of community leaders throughout Jackson, Josephine, and Douglas counties who are responsible for setting our policy, strategic planning, and fiscal oversight. If you’re passionate about advancing health equity in southern Oregon and would like to serve on our board, we’d love to hear from you.
Perinatal Task Force
Do you work with young families or pregnant women? Join local providers, lactation counselors, home visitors, infant massage therapists, behavioral health counselors, and others whose work touches families before, during, and after pregnancy. Attend free professional development and networking opportunities in Josephine and/or Douglas county to help improve maternal and infant health in our communities. Advocacy
Any person can be an advocate for the social issues they care about most. When you raise your voice, you can help to shape the ways in which state and federal dollars are being used to make big-picture policy decisions in your community.
Parent Opportunities
Parent Leadership Cohort (Douglas County)
Parents in Douglas County — scholarships are available for education and certifications. This program provides scholarships to parents in Douglas county to pursue education and certification in several areas related to parenting, including infant CPR, lactation counseling, play group facilitation and more. Gain valuable job skills, while also uplifting other parents in your community.
University of Oregon Parenting Young Children Program
Parenting Young Children invites parents of children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years old to participate in a telehealth parenting program. This is a paid opportunity, and parents can earn up to $425! Participation involves completing four interviews/surveys over the course of one year.
Perinatal Task Force
Parents! Use your voice to impact the direction of the Task Force and discuss resources for families. Healthy Start convenes the Perinatal Task Force (PNTF), which is a collective impact group focused on improving health outcomes in Douglas and Josephine counties. This group meets monthly and focuses on the perinatal period — before, during, and after pregnancy. Connect with HCCSO
Healthy Start of Southern Oregon
Healthy Start of Southern Oregon provides direct client services through partnering agencies and also convenes task forces in Josephine and Douglas Counties to improve systems of care related to infant and maternal health.
Every Tuesday the Grants Pass and Williams branch libraries come alive with furry friends waiting to hear a good book!
Stop by the children’s library from 3pm to 4pm for K9 Reading Buddies. During this program, trained therapy dogs provide a non-intimidating environment for children to learn to read out loud.
Young readers have the opportunity to explore language and books during this special story time. ❤️
