If you live in Southern Oregon, we invite you to attend our next virtual community baby shower! This weeklong event will be held primarily on Facebook from April 25 – 29, 2022. Visit our Welcome Baby Shower Event page or Facebook page for details, and we look forward to celebrating with you!
Our goal with this community baby shower is to connect families with resources, trustworthy information, other local families, and community support, and of course, to have FUN! All of this is to improve health outcomes for parents and their infants. Whether you’re a mother, a father, a partner, expecting, planning, already adapting to your new life with baby, or know someone who is, our Healthy Start community baby showers are an excellent place to get to know the local resources available for Southern Oregon families.
We are going to have a theme for each day of the event:
Monday: Breastfeeding
Tuesday: Fatherhood
Wednesday: Infant/ Parent Mental Health
Thursday: Birthing, Pregnancy, and Parenting Classes
Friday: Prize announcements
Feel free to tune in to our social media any of these days and join us!
About Healthy Start’s 2022 Community Baby Showers
Due to COVID this community baby shower is still going to mostly be online. Yes, mostly!
We have partnered up with two of our local libraries to offer an in-person aspect to this baby shower. The Josephine County Library (Tuesday 10am to 7pm) and the Roseburg Public Library (Tuesday 10am to 6pm) are giving away books on April 26th to fathers and partners to give them something to read to their babies. Research shows that reading to babies has a positive impact on their brains and the bond between them and the reader. And it’s fun!
Online, we are pleased to offer live-stream conversations with local service providers around topics that you have requested in past feedback surveys. We will be posting helpful information and giveaway posts related to the topic of the day.
What’s Coming In September 2022
Even in the future, we plan to have virtual aspects to the community baby shower for those who can’t, or don’t want to, attend the in-person event! We have heard from attendees that these virtual baby showers are very convenient if they can’t get a babysitter or are otherwise busy at home. It has also helped them feel more connected even from remote places.
